Frequently asked questions

Do I need to be fit or strong to start?

Not at all! We welcome all fitness levels and body shapes. Our level 1 beginner classes are designed to help you gradually build strength and flexibility, starting from scratch. If you’re already active, that’s a bonus - but it’s definitely not required.

Do I need dance or gymnastics experience?

No - most of our classes don’t require any prior experience in dance, gymnastics, or any other discipline. Is there an age limit?

Our adult classes are open to anyone aged 17 and over, with no upper age limit. Kids’ classes are for ages 5–16, unless a specific class states otherwise.

What level should I join?

If you’re new to pole or aerial, you’ll start with level 1, our beginner course. Each course runs for 4 weeks, and after completing the level 1 course, you’ll move on to level 2 for the next 4 weeks, then level 3, and so on.
This structured progression helps both students and instructors keep track of the moves covered, and makes it easy for anyone joining to understand the level and content of each course.

Can I try a class before committing to a course?

We occasionally offer taster classes, which are a great way to try a session before committing to a 4 week course. Availability depends on the timetable and instructors, so taster classes aren’t always guaranteed.

How much are classes?

For general pole & aerial courses we run 4 week courses which cost £40 when booked in full, with 1 hour classes each week. For level 2 courses and onwards, if spaces are available then you can also attend on a pay-as-you-go basis at £12.50 per session.

To book a drop in or PAYG class (instead of the full course), once logged in scroll down on this page and click the ‘Details’ button next to your chosen date. If spaces are available, you’ll see the option to purchase a ‘Single Session Registration’ - this allows you to attend just that one class.

All classes require a minimum number of students to run, so if you’d like your favourite class to go ahead, be sure to book early. This helps us plan and confirm class numbers in advance.

How do I book?

All classes must be booked and paid for in advance through our online booking system. We do not accept payments at the studio, and your spot is only secured once payment is made - unfortunately, we cannot reserve spaces outside of the booking system. If anyone arrives without having booked a class in advance, unfortunately they will not be able to participate. The system will also ask for your emergency contact and medical information, which is required by our insurance.

What if I’ve paid for a 4 week course but now can’t make one of the classes?

If you’re unable to attend a booked class, please let us know at least 48 hours in advance. If space is available, we may be able to offer a swap to another class of the same or lower level, or a practice session. However, this is not guaranteed and is subject to availability.

Please note: all sessions must be used within the 4 week course they were purchased for and cannot be carried over to future blocks.

We do not offer refunds for classes booked, but may be able to move your class as per the above.

Where are we based?

Our address is Unit 2, Pool Business Park, Pool, TR15 3QW. You’ll find us just across the road from Tesco Extra in Pool, Redruth - please note, it’s not the entrance with the Click & Collect service.

When you arrive, park along the road as you enter the industrial estate. Then walk through the gates towards The Fire Place - we’re two units to the left.

There’s a pinned video on our Instagram and Facebook pages that shows exactly how to find us. If you’re unsure, feel free to drop us a message!

Can men participate?

Yes, absolutely! Pole and aerial is for everyone, and we are fully inclusive.

What should I wear?

  • Pole - please wear a T-shirt / vest top and shorts. You can also wear leggings or joggers that can be rolled up to just above the knee, but only if you feel comfortable doing so - there’s no pressure to roll them up if this is outside of your comfort zone. Please avoid using moisturiser or lotion on the day of your class as this makes the poles slippery and unsafe.

  • Aerial hoop & sling - please wear tight fitting sports leggings and a T-shirt / long sleeved top.

  • Choreo classes - feel free to wear whatever you feel comfortable in. This can just be your normal gym wear, or you may like to dress up. Heels are optional; there are no need for heels, but you are very welcome to wear them if you have them already. These must pole specific heels (i.e Pleasers, Hella Heels etc), no other heels please. For floor routines in particular, knee pads are essential. We do have a couple of pairs available to borrow in the studio if you’d like to try them out before buying your own.

  • For all classes please remove any rings, watches, bracelets etc. Bring a bottle of water to stay hydrated.

Does it hurt?

Some soreness and bruising is normal, especially when starting out, but it gets easier with practice and conditioning.

Is it safe?

Our studio uses professionally maintained equipment, and all instructors are fully qualified in their disciplines and first aid trained. We provide high quality safety mats and structure our classes by skill level to ensure everyone learns safely at a pace that suits them.

At the end of each class, you’ll be asked to wipe down your pole and mat (or just the mat for aerial hoop/sling). Use a cloth from the black baskets at the sides of the room and spray it with the antibacterial cleaner provided. Once used, place the cloths in the grey baskets for washing. This helps keep all poles and mats clean and safe for the next students.

What if I have a medical condition?

When you register for a class, you’ll be asked to complete a health questionnaire - please answer honestly. If we have any concerns, we’ll contact you. If you have a medical condition that might affect your ability to participate, please check with your doctor beforehand. It’s generally advised not to start new forms of exercise if you are pregnant, have recently given birth, or have recently had surgery. Your doctor can guide you on when it’s safe to return to exercise. At the start of each class, we check if any students have new injuries or illnesses. If you’d prefer, you’re welcome to inform the instructor privately before class rather than speaking in front of the group. We ask this to keep you safe and make any necessary adjustments to the class.

What happens in a class?

Classes typically include:

  • 10 minute warm up to get your body ready

  • 10 minutes of conditioning to build strength and stamina

  • 15 minutes reviewing previous moves, giving you a chance to practice each move twice

  • 15 minutes learning new moves (usually 2–3 per class)

  • 5 minutes of practice to focus on any moves you want extra time on

  • 5 minute cool down to finish the session

This structure ensures a balanced mix of warm up, skill building, practice, and recovery.

How many people will be in a class?

For our general classes, we have 5 poles and 5 rigging points for hoop or sling, with a maximum of 2 students per piece of equipment. This means each class can have up to 10 participants. You may need to share a pole, hoop, or sling with another student, which is a great way to make new friends and enjoy a short break between practising moves. Limiting it to 2 per piece of equipment ensures everyone gets plenty of time to work on their new skills.

Our studio is divided into two sections: one for pole and one for aerial (hoop/sling). This allows us to run two classes at the same time. All students start with a shared warm up before splitting into their respective classes, each led by its own instructor.

What if I’m running late to a class?

We begin every class with a 10 minute warm up. If you arrive more than 5 minutes late, unfortunately you won’t be able to join, as missing half of the warm up makes it unsafe to participate. This is a requirement of our insurance, and all instructors are required to follow this policy.

We understand that traffic or other commitments may occasionally make you late, but please try to avoid making it a habit. Arriving late is disruptive to both the instructor and other students, so consistent lateness cannot be accommodated.

Can I book private sessions?

Of course! Get in contact with us for more information and availability.

Can I take photos / videos during a class?

Absolutely! We strongly encourage you to record your progress - you’ll be amazed at how quickly you improve, and looking back at old photos or videos is one of the best ways to see it. Many students tell us they wish they’d filmed more when they first started, but didn’t because they felt shy or wanted to “perfect” a move first. Our advice? Record anyway! You never have to show anyone if you don’t want to, but you won’t regret having those memories.

We just ask that you avoid filming while instructors are teaching a move, and if other students appear in the background, please check they’re happy to be in your video - especially if you plan to post it online - or choose an angle that keeps them out of frame. Our instructors will never mind being in the background!

If you share on social media, please tag us! We love seeing your progress and, where possible, will share it to our stories (if your profile is private, we can’t reshare, but we still enjoy seeing them).
